Metamorphic returns to action, welcoming a fantastic new artist to the outfit, the accomplished Nicola Loporchio recording under his Nico Lahs moniker. Hailing from Bari, Loporchio has lived a wholesome career thus far in music, churning out high quality sounds on the likes of Ovum, Poker Flat, and Rawax to name a few. Fitting the ethos of the label like a glove, it seems a natural move for the label, delivering four spaced out and atmospheric tracks entitled, "Blow Your Mind".
Opener "Blow Your Mind" is nearly five minutes of bliss, tribal like elements meld with the delightful whooshes and trickling synth work which all combine together to create an explosion for the senses, all to be grounded by a sturdy and impactful kick. Next on the agenda is "Touch Me" an enriching encounter of delight and ecstasy like a breezy summer’s afternoon, a cool and bouncy bass line arrangement just blowing in the wind, keeping things moving.
An elastic bass, attached to the energetic drum of ‘Is This The Way’ make this certainly the most direct of the tracks so far. Graceful pad work and synths float around the driven belly of the record. Shimmering at the early hours of the after party is the closing track "The Free Life" another curious encounter of twists and turns from the Italian producer. It's time to acknowledge a maestro at work. Four tracks manoeuvring through various corners of the taste palette and sound spectrum, each maintaining a spectacularly high standard.
This EP is welcomed with open arms as discerning techno fans have eagerly awaited the return of Nico Lahs while he spent a five year hiatus fully focusing on his Cosmic Garden alias, and propelling his vinyl only label, Cosmic Rhythm. When a heavily respected label is combined with a highly appreciated artist there is sure to be magic -- time to take a trip...
